Here East
Architectural & Structural Metalwork | London
Here East is situated on the north eastern side of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, an ongoing transformation of the former press and broadcasting centres of the 2012 London Olympic games covering 1.2 million sqft of commercial space.
The area comprises of three buildings creating a community of offices, restaurants, studio spaces and a data centres. Alongside this the building also houses the facilities for UCL, Loughborough University and Hackney Community College.
For this ground breaking scheme designed for London’s creative and digital industries, Littlehampton Welding were asked to supply and fit architectural and structural metalwork to the interior and exterior of the buildings.
This project included the full construction of four core staircases connecting each level of the building, with additional support steelworks and balustrades. Three linear staircases were fabricated and installed with balustrades, connecting each mezzanine level of the internal office spaces. For the exterior of building LWL were asked to provide a total of nine projecting and three recessed balconies finished to a bright orange, creating a contrasting juxtaposition against the clean glass fascia of the building.
Additional work at the site includes the fabrication and installation of balustrades within each of the three Atrium and on the South terrace of the building.
